Our Favourite Piano Backing Tracks: The AB&T Editors' Picks

by Sheldon Conrich 16 Oct 2026

There's something special about taking a familiar song, stripping away the original production and discovering what happens when you let the piano do the talking.

Here at Acoustic Backs And Tracks, we've created hundreds of piano backing tracks over the years, covering everything from timeless ballads and wedding favourites to modern pop, dance anthems and musical theatre classics. Some arrangements come together naturally, while others present a creative challenge that takes us in an entirely unexpected direction.

Following on from our recent guitar editors' picks, we thought it was only fair to give the piano its moment in the spotlight!

This isn't a list of our bestselling tracks or necessarily the most popular songs in our catalogue. Instead, these are ten of our personal favourite piano backing tracks, chosen for the enjoyment, creativity and occasional challenges involved in bringing them to life.

Let's dive in!

1. Be My Baby – The Ronettes

Some songs are so recognisable that reimagining them can feel a little daunting. Be My Baby is certainly one of those!

Rather than trying to recreate the energy and production of The Ronettes' original, we decided to take things in a completely different direction, transforming this 1960s classic into a beautiful, stripped-back piano ballad.

We loved the process of slowing things down and giving the melody room to breathe. There's something incredibly satisfying about hearing such a familiar song take on an entirely new character.

It's a lovely choice for wedding ceremonies, intimate performances or anyone looking to surprise their audience with an unexpected interpretation of a classic.

2. Man I Need – Olivia Dean

Olivia Dean has a wonderful way of making her music feel effortlessly cool, and Man I Need is a perfect example.

The challenge with this arrangement was capturing that same laid-back energy and groove using keys alone. We didn't want to lose the character of the original, but equally, we wanted the piano to feel like a natural accompaniment rather than an imitation of a full band.

Finding that balance was great fun.

The result is a piano backing track that retains the song's personality while giving singers plenty of space to make it their own. A fantastic addition to a contemporary acoustic setlist.

3. Everyday – High School Musical

Not every arrangement challenge is about recreating a particular sound. Sometimes, it's about making a song work in an entirely different performance setting.

Everyday from High School Musical was originally written as a duet, so one of our biggest considerations was finding a key that would allow a solo performer to sing it comfortably.

We also wanted to move away from the bigger musical theatre production and create something more intimate and personal.

It's one of those arrangements where the piano really helps bring the emotion of the song to the forefront. A lovely option for singers looking to give a nostalgic favourite a fresh perspective.

4. Yellow – Coldplay

Every now and again, an arrangement comes together that takes you somewhere completely different from the original song.

Our piano version of Yellow is one of those tracks.

Rather than following the familiar guitar-driven sound of Coldplay's original, we wanted to create something beautiful, atmospheric and emotionally engaging.

The piano allows the melody and lyrics to shine in a completely different way, giving the song a more delicate and reflective character.

It's an arrangement we're particularly fond of, and one that feels perfectly suited to romantic wedding ceremonies, first dances and those quieter moments in a live set.

5. My Love Is Your Love – Kara Marni

Sometimes, less really is more.

Our piano backing track for My Love Is Your Love, inspired by Kara Marni's version, is all about capturing that wonderfully relaxed, soulful atmosphere.

We wanted to keep things stripped back without losing the groove and character that make the song so appealing.

There's a lovely balance between simplicity and musicality here, with the piano providing just enough movement and colour to support the vocal.

It's super vibey, understated and exactly the kind of track we love creating for singers who enjoy putting their own stamp on familiar material.

6. Pink Pony Club – Chappell Roan

Now here's a song that might not immediately spring to mind when you think of a warm, intimate piano performance!

Pink Pony Club is such a bold, energetic pop anthem that stripping it back presented a particularly enjoyable creative challenge.

Rather than trying to reproduce the scale and excitement of the original, we focused on bringing out the warmth and emotion underneath it all.

The result is a softer, more intimate arrangement that allows the storytelling and melody to take centre stage.

We love arrangements like this because they demonstrate how versatile a great song can be. It's also a brilliant way for performers to include a contemporary crowd favourite in a more relaxed acoustic set.

7. Truly Madly Deeply – Savage Garden

Some songs just seem made for a beautiful piano arrangement.

Truly Madly Deeply is one of them.

For this version, we wanted to create a delicate, flowing accompaniment built around arpeggiated piano patterns, giving the track a romantic, ballad-like quality.

There's something about those gentle, repeating piano figures that works wonderfully with the melody and sentiment of the song.

It's simple, heartfelt and beautifully suited to wedding ceremonies, first dances and romantic performances.

Sometimes the most effective arrangements are the ones that don't try to do too much.

8. Bridgerton Theme

This one was a slightly different challenge!

Creating a piano accompaniment for the Bridgerton theme was a fun opportunity to approach something that wasn't originally conceived as a conventional singer-songwriter style performance.

The challenge was finding a way to support the recognisable musical themes while making the arrangement feel natural and enjoyable to perform alongside.

We love projects that push us outside the usual pop and ballad repertoire, and this was certainly one of them.

It's a great example of how piano backing tracks can open up creative possibilities beyond traditional songs, particularly for performers looking to bring something a little different to their repertoire.

9. Love Is A Losing Game – Amy Winehouse

Jazzy, sophisticated and beautifully understated. What more could you want?

Love Is A Losing Game is one of those songs where the musical character is just as important as the melody.

We wanted our piano arrangement to capture that intimate, jazz-influenced atmosphere without overcomplicating things.

The beauty of this track lies in its restraint. The chords provide warmth and colour, while the relaxed accompaniment leaves plenty of space for a singer to really connect with the lyrics.

It's a wonderful choice for cocktail receptions, sophisticated dinner sets and intimate live performances.

And, of course, an absolute must for audiences who love Amy Winehouse.

10. Feel So Close – Calvin Harris

We couldn't finish this list without another unexpected transformation!

Taking a classic dance hit like Calvin Harris's Feel So Close and turning it into something simple and stripped back is exactly the kind of creative challenge we enjoy.

The original is built around a huge electronic sound, so the fun lies in discovering how much of the song's identity can be retained with just the piano.

By removing the dance production and focusing on the underlying chords and melody, the track takes on a completely different personality.

It's a great way to introduce a recognisable, upbeat song into a more intimate performance setting, and a reminder that even the biggest dance anthems can work beautifully when reimagined acoustically.

Why We Love Creating Piano Backing Tracks

One of the things we enjoy most about creating piano backing tracks is the freedom to approach a song from a completely different perspective.

Sometimes that means transforming an upbeat pop hit into an emotional ballad. Other times, it's about preserving the groove and personality of the original using nothing more than a piano. And occasionally, the biggest challenge is finding an arrangement and key that makes a song work beautifully for a solo singer.

There's no single formula, and that's what keeps things interesting.

For wedding and event performers, piano backing tracks offer incredible versatility. They can create a romantic atmosphere during a ceremony, provide sophisticated background music during drinks or dinner, or bring a fresh twist to a well-known crowd favourite.

We hope this collection gives you a little inspiration for your own repertoire, whether you're looking for something timeless, contemporary or completely unexpected.
